It's On!!!

HIHA Family, Naturally, we were all devastated by this past weekend’s flooding and damage to the rinks. It was difficult to see a path forward on Sunday morning, but I am happy to say that we have commitments and expect the season to start as planned on March 30th . This would not be possible without the hard work of your Board of Directors, The Hendersonville Parks Department, the Hendersonville Fire Department along with all those who have volunteered. The league has also received tremendous support from Hendersonville City Officials, the Nashville Predators and other youth organizations such as Hendersonville Soccer and Youth Inc. to name a few.

We will be operating the 2019 Spring season with one rink. After evaluation of the damage, it was determined that Rink 2 was in better condition and there was enough usable material that could be cannibalized from Rink 1 to make this happen. Deconstruction of what is left of Rink 1 and reconstruction of the boards and surface on Rink 2 is expected to start by the middle of next week.

There is still much work to be done as far as cleaning and organizing of the surface tiles. Last night was the start of the process which essentially became building the world’s largest jigsaw puzzle as we attempted to match the lines on the rink. This process will continue today at 4:00 PM and then possibly this weekend and next week if needed. Volunteer requests and rink updates will be posted on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/…/Hendersonville-Inline-Hockey-As…/ or our website at https://hihockey.com/blog.

There will be a funding need and as we continue to get a better feel for the costs involved in this process along with the damages, we will be putting out the request for assistance.

Due to only having one rink available for the Spring 2019 season, it will be a different season with games being spread out, but the fun and excitement of inline hockey will still be there.

If you have not signed up, I encourage you to sign up now as a show of support for HIHA. This will also assist us with planning the season schedule.

Saving the Spring season has been our primary focus. We will be working with both the Parks Department and the City to determine what our long term plans will be.

See you at The Rink.

Sincerely,

HIHA Board of Directors J.R. Ernst - President
