During the regular seasons (spring and fall), a skating clinic open to all age groups is typically offered one day per week outside of normal team practice schedules. These clinics spend time focusing on fundamentals of skating and help skaters at ALL levels learn techniques to improve their ability.
The Fall season usually begins in August with registration opening in July. The end of season tournament usually happens prior to the end of October.
If you've ever tried doing anything mildly active when it seems the temperature and humidity are having a race to see who can reach 100 first, then you would know how miserable it can be. Due to the heat, we don't normally offer a summer league; however on occasion we have offered a summer camp. If you are interested in a summer camp/clinic, please head over to the Contact Us page and let us know.
Practice schedules vary but are normally held 2 days per week Monday through Friday and last 1 hour per practice. Start times vary from 5 PM to 8PM with the younger age groups starting earlier (5PM or 6PM) and older age groups starting later in the evening (7PM or 8PM).
No checking in any age group is allowed and penalties are strictly enforced. You may occasionally see players bump into one another and the league understands this may occur; it's pretty easy to differentiate between an intentional check and an accidental encounter between players.
Please see our Required Equipment page.
Currently HIHA does not offer any adult leagues. If you have an interest in joining an adult league, please stop by the Contact Us page.
Signups/registration usually opens in February for the Spring season and July for the Fall season. Check the Registration page our website or Facebook page for the most up-to-date information.
Player evaluations usually occur around the time the registration period closes and prior to the player draft.
